Intellectual Property
Course Materials
Instructors retain all intellectual property rights in course materials uploaded to Lectio. By uploading materials, instructors grant Lectio a limited license to process and index content solely for the purpose of providing AI tutoring services to authorized users.
Instructor Responsibility for Uploaded Content
Instructors are solely responsible for ensuring they have the necessary rights, licenses, or permissions to upload and use any materials on the Lectio platform. This includes, but is not limited to, textbooks, articles, images, and other copyrighted works. Lectio does not review uploaded materials for copyright compliance and assumes no liability for any infringement claims arising from instructor-uploaded content.
Instructors agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lectio Labs, LLC from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from the upload or use of materials that infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party.
Platform Content
The Lectio platform, including its design, features, and underlying technology, is owned by Lectio and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the platform without authorization.
AI-Generated Content
Lectio uses artificial intelligence to generate responses based on course materials. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors or omissions. Users should verify important information with primary sources and instructors. Lectio's responses are intended as educational support, not authoritative academic guidance.
Academic Integrity
Lectio is designed to support learning while maintaining academic integrity. Users are responsible for using Lectio in accordance with their institution's academic honesty policies. Lectio provides transparency features (such as source citations) to help users understand and properly attribute information.
Limitation of Liability
Lectio is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to academic consequences, data loss, or service interruptions. Our total liability shall not exceed the fees paid for the service in the twelve months preceding any claim.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to Lectio at any time for violation of these terms or for any other reason. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect.
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email or through the platform. Continued use of Lectio after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
